Bye Bye Miss American Pie

I lived in Youngstown, Ohio for 2 years. Perhaps the heart of the rust belt, the city suffered an immense economic collapse with the fall of the steel industry on September 19, 1977, known as Black Monday. The area still is affected by this event and has many buildings that are either abandoned or that residents can't afford to repair. Thus it was quite common to see them boarded up or with black garbage bags over windows. There was a part of me that wanted to graffiti these bags a la Banksy style, maybe make things look a bit better. But I never had the nerve and there was never enough money for bail anyway. But I wanted this idea to live on so I created this poster instead.
